A great way to find low cost lawn care equipment.

Are you just getting your lawn care business started and looking for ways to get some lawn care equipment to get you started? If you want to find some great stuff that is cheap and nearby, consider doing what this lawn care business owner did. He shared a great tip on how to do this on the Gopher Lawn Care Business Forum.

He wrote “I just got my lawn care business started last month and I already own all of the starting equipment I need. This is something you might want to try. I purchased much of my power equipment from sales by people who were foreclosed on. They are easy to find and the prices are fantastic. I bought a 2007 John Deer lawn tractor with a 46″ deck for $300.00. A leaf blower for $35.00. An open 5 x 10 trailer for the tractor and other equipment for $250.00. I found all of this at one sale! At another, I picked up a core aerator and commercial spreader for $100.00.”

That sounds like a great way to get started on the cheap! But how do you go about finding where these sales will be?

“Home foreclosures are reported in our local paper. I write down the addresses when I find them and then check for moving, yard and garage sales with the same address. Obviously, the people are going to be moving to an apartment and have the choice of selling or storing. But it seems most just want to sell.

Most of these people are in over their head and have let the lawn go because they have negative equity in the property. So you will want to market to these homes as soon as they are sold.”

Great tips!
