Lawn Care Customer Complaints

One of the members of the Gopher Lawn Care Business Forum shared with us some of the biggest complaints his customers have told him about.

He said “the #1 complaint I hear from almost every single client is lack of reliability, such as:
1- They don’t show up on time or even the day they say they will.
2- They never even returned my call.
3- They missed spots on the lawn.
4- A woman who recently regained her sight after 2 years told me of a local guy who did great work until she was visited and told by her visitor that the entire yard looked like an over grown jungle, Apparently he charged her every week to do the work and never did it. She could not see so it was all the same.

I have also had a few complaints about lawn care businesses requiring monthly contracts. A lot of people don’t like that because if they have it done once or 4 times per month they still pay the same amount. I say there is no reason to pay me if I am not there working. I get a lot of good work and have very happy clients just because of the fact that week in and out I show up on time every time and get the job done nicely. I even go up and above every time and will spray a weed or 2 and not charge or adjust a stray sprinkler and not charge.

The #1 thing that keeps the money coming in is I am a good talker and listener. It is not uncommon to know a clients entire life story before ever doing the work. The elderly people living in my area just love having someone who they can talk there ear off. If you sit, listen and understand they don’t care how much it costs them they will pay you just because you took the time to slime and shoot the bull with them.”
