The best way to generate new lawn care customer with some SEO tips.

You can get the majority of what you need to do to have a website completed and still not get any activity on it. How come? You might be missing out on key lawn care business website search engine optimization techniques. Missing those important elements can cause your site to rank poorly in the search engines. Let’s take a look at this discussion on the Gopher Lawn Care Business Forum to learn how to improve your SEO.

One lawn care business owner wrote “how much new business do you feel having a website generates? Signage on your cargo trailer or truck? Do any of these really help bring in new phone calls? I am kinda lost and feel like I am spinning my wheels.”

A second lawn care business owner said “having a website is definitely worth it. But there are a lot of SEO tricks you may not know and may not implement which could cause you to miss out on a lot of website visitors. I currently generate on average 4- 10 new leads a week from my website. So if you are not getting at least that, you are doing something wrong.

A website does not have to be fancy but without doing at least some basic search engine optimization, your site could rank so low that it wouldn’t do anything for you.

For those of you who already have a website and want to learn how to get more leads then I will share with you some ideas. I will try and keep this as simple as possible.

First of all you want to get backlinks to your site. The more backlinks you have, from quality sites, the higher google will rank you and the more people will go to your site. A good way to do this is to find out what directories your competition is listed in. To do this go to this site.

Enter the url address of your local competition in the search box. Hit enter. You will now see all the links from other sites that go to that website. Next what you want to do is to go through each of them and see if you can add your own site to them. A lot of these backlinks may be trash but just keep looking. Do the same thing over and over again with all of your other competitors web addresses and you will find some directories that you never knew existed.

Another important step is to make sure you have the right keywords in the title of each page. If you have a lawn business named  ‘Joe’s Lawn Care’ and you are based in say, Florida, don’t have a title that say ‘At Joe’s Lawn Care we love to look after our customers.’ (or some other fancy headline.)

Instead have a headline like ‘Lawn care Florida. Joe’s Lawn Care offers lawn care through out Florida.’ It may not be very catchy but it will rank you higher in google for people who are typing in the words ‘Lawn care Florida.’

Next add your site to google places. http://www.google.com/places/

Click on ‘places for business’ and add your details. They will send you a post card to confirm your address. This will then get you to appear on google maps.

Next we need to look at how your website is designed. What do you want people to do when they visit your site. You want them to make an inquiry! SO MAKE THAT THE MOST PROMINENT THING ON YOUR PAGE. Don’t make people have to click on your contact us page in order to get your details. Your details should be on every page.

Make sure you have a call to action on each page. Actually ask visitors to contact you now for a free quote.

I hope this helps you get a bit more value from your websites. I have kept this rather simple so that it is not too confusing. There is still a hell of a lot more that you can do but this is a good next step to better optimize your lawn care business website.”
